Summary:

The topic of the research is to investigate new methodologies for downscaling citywide carbon emissions in Washington DC to local neighborhoods.

Essential Functions:

• The research assistant will be collecting existing data on carbon emissions in DC at the city level and explore public databases that have more granular information. From those larger datasets, the assistant will be using mathematical models to downscale the information to the neighborhood level by using land-use and transportation data.

• The methodology of downscaling will be built on existing research.

• The goal is to produce a toolkit that can be used at the local policy levels to inform decisions. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Part-Time.

• This is a temporary position.

Salary Range:

• $17.50-$18.50 per hour.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required.

• The position requires fluency in research methods of literature review and data analysis.

• Programming experience is not required but the project does involve programming in Python.

• Experience in local policy and environmental issues is a plus.
