Job Description
The Database Developer ensures that new and existing databases are implemented in a standard and secure manner, utilizing industry best practices. There will be extensive interaction with technology software development and infrastructure teams as well as cross-functional Wilshire teams. You will also be responsible for database design, implementation, development, and maintenance. This position reports to the Vice President Database Architect Lead.
What you’ll do:
- Database installation and upgrading
- Database management and tuning
- Monitoring performance and database optimization
- Database backups, recovery and restoration process
- Implementation and administration of users and database permissions
- Creation of technical documentation
Qualifications
- 2+ years SQL experience
- 2+ years ETL experience
- Excellent skills in database design, T-SQL development, including query optimization, creating and modifying stored procedures, functions, triggers, ad hoc queries and creating tables and views
- Thorough knowledge of database architecture concepts
- Adept at capturing and communicating data model changes in ERD Diagrams for solution design documentation
- Performance tuning against SQL queries, stored procedures, and ad hoc queries as well as imbedded code in an SSIS and Azure Data Factory data flows
- Excellent understanding of database administration principles and best practices
- Thorough knowledge of Git and DevOps concepts, processes, and best practices
- Experience working within Agile development (Scrum, Kanban) and managing cloud database software projects utilizing agile methodologies
- Experience in administering on-prem / Azure based multi-user SQL Server environment with expertise in planning, designing, creating, and implementing complex database systems
- Adept in quickly ascertaining the technical status of issues raised, using limited information, and formulating the best possible issue-resolution plan
- Experience with administrating Microsoft SQL databases throughout the non-production (Sandbox, development, Test, UAT, Training), pre-production (Staging) and production lifecycles in cloud environments
- Experience with creating detailed technical artifacts to document software deployment processes
- Excellent understanding of data visualization instruments such as Power BI and Tableau
- Demonstrated knowledge of ETL concepts, design and tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory)
- Understanding of data warehouse technologies (Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Snowflake)
- Excellent ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively and be a thought-provoking team contributor
- Have a passionate commitment to continuous professional development and learning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of at least non-relational database platforms
- Python development
- Debugging stored procedures
- .NET, C# and/or API development
- Excellent understanding of various data formats including JSON XML and experience with REST API consumption
- Experience using Jira
- Experience using RedGate, dbForge or any other database development tool suite
- Ability to demonstrate domain knowledge as it pertains to database development, administration, design and best practices
- Excellent understanding of automation using PowerShell

The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $120,000/year. However, base pay will be determined on an individualized
