The Department of Art and Design within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, one-year appointment for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Art and Design, with a specialization in Graphic Design, to begin August 2025.

The University of Tampa’s Department of Art and Design is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Department comprises six major areas of undergraduate study: Art (BFA), Graphic Design (BFA), Art Therapy, Design, Museum Studies, and Visual Arts.
The position requires the ability to teach all levels of Graphic Design including introductory to advanced level courses that include design fundamentals, typography, print design, production, trademark + branding, packaging design, user experience, user interface design, design thinking, web design and portfolio development. The department seeks to hire an active and engaged faculty member who combines disciplinary expertise with excellence in teaching. Those with extensive industry experience are encouraged to apply.
The teaching load is 16-semester hours (typically 4 four-credit courses) in a 15-week semester.
The successful candidate will join a department of sixteen full-time faculty members and four full-time instructional staff committed to excellence in teaching and fostering a strong research culture where traditional and emerging art and design processes and technologies are used across the disciplines in a diverse and collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications: Master of Fine Arts (or other terminal degree) in Graphic Design and/or equivalent experience in the field. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional Graphic Design experience. Knowledge of design history, theory, and contemporary issues in design. Relevant college teaching experience in the theory and practice of human-centered design, design thinking, and design processes and systems.
