Lumpkin County Schools is now accepting applications for a Lead Special Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

Position Overview:
The Lead Special Education Teacher will support students with diverse learning needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), leading a team of educators, and fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement IEPs tailored to student needs

  • Provide direct instruction and behavioral support

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families

  • Lead and mentor special education staff

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education

  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education General Curriculum (P-12)

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience working with diverse learning and behavioral needs
