Turner Specialty Services, LLC is seeking experienced Rope Access Welders for full-time work in the Pasadena, TX area. The Rope Access Welder is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations to perform maintenance, repairs, and other industrial work tasks on industrial petrol/chemical equipment while on ropes. The Technician must have the ability to perform work that is physically demanding, have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate a large amount of new information. Responsibilities may also include rescue operations, technical reports, and administrative tasks.
- Must have valid drivers license
- Must have TWIC card
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Rope Access Certification (Sprat or Irata) required
- NCCER Craft Certification a plus
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Must be considered local to the job. Per diem is not included.

Functional Requirements:
- Uses Industrial Rope Access methods and related equipment to access and complete a wide variety of maintenance, repairs and other industrial work tasks while on ropes or in difficult access areas
- Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to the IRAT/SPRAT standards and practices
- Ensures team members utilize proper personal protective equipment
- Displays a healthy respect for heights and follows all OSHA, site specific and company's safety procedures
- Participates in required training and maintains a working understanding of rope access safe working practices
- Inspects and verifies rope access systems and components before use
- Recognizes worksite hazards and notifies the Rope Access Supervisor of any unsafe conditions
- Maintains proficiency at rescue techniques and assist in rescues as directed and in accordance with certification level
- Performs physical activities that require considerably use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, and walking
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- IRATA / SPRAT Level I,II, or III certification
- Current TWIC Card Required
- NCCER Certified
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
General Job Description:
The Rope Access Welder lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe and building and bridge parts, utilizing rope access.
Qualification Standards:
- Rope Access Certification
- NCCER Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place.
Physical Involvement:
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30-50 lbs. from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
