About the Role
As an autonomy engineer, you will assist in the design, definition, development, and test of the robotics hardware development; collaborating with senior engineers to ensure that internal and external clients' needs are met.
What You Will Do
You’ll join a team with diverse project responsibilities, have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. Some of the responsibilities include:
Collecting and researching data on customer experience with robotic platforms; preparing reports for management
Documenting architecture specifications, hardware requirements and specifications, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures
Utilize appropriate tools to develop hardware in 3D modeling tools according to specifications, create 2D drawings, collaborate with suppliers, and assist with procurement of the hardware.
Utilize appropriate tools to debug, test and maintain cat robotic hardware, assisting in the assembly, verification and validation process

Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations
Hardware Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of hardware development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced hardware products to the marketplace
