Location: Various locations across the GTA

Work Hours: Part time hours in June for training, then up to 40 hours per week Monday – Friday starting June 23 until August 29, 2025

Employment Type: Seasonal Contract

Day Camp Archery Program Specialists play an integral role in ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate in high-quality archery programming. As the Archery Program Specialist, you would be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the archery range/equipment and the direct program delivery of the archery program.

In this role, you will:   

  • Support Camp Counsellors by leading high quality archery programming in line with program manuals and focuses on meeting expectations and program descriptions
  • Monitor the safety of all archery activities and responds immediately to rectify any safety concerns; is proactive in their role in ensuring the archery environment is safe and organized
  • Responsible for the set-up, take down, maintenance and organization of equipment
  • Plan all archery program blocks in accordance with the program manuals, with a focus on skill progression in line with the skill button program
  • Provide overall camp support by assisting with break coverage and filling in for absent staff
  • Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings; arriving on time, and actively participating and contributing to the development of all camp staff
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety and maintenance to camp sites
  • Act as a positive role model for the campers and fellow staff through embodying the YMCA values, policies and procedures, Day Camp conditions of employment/guidelines and the Ontario Camping Association standards

    You bring:    

    • Completed or currently enrolled in post-secondary education (preferred)
    • Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certificate valid until the last day of contract
    • Minimum 1-year experience working in a camp environment
    • Experience with YMCA Day Camps an asset
    • Experience leading recreation and/or archery programs is an asset
    • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment 
    • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with families, staff and volunteers
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
