As part of Enterprise Engineering, we provide an unbiased perspective with comprehensive techno-functional expertise. We are a global team, collaborating closely with our stakeholders to design an optimized People & Benefits platform for Roku.
About the role
As part of our Enterprise Engineering team, you will have the rare opportunity to shape our HR technology platform for various Workday modules, with a focus on Workday Payroll. Roku is growing rapidly, and we need you to support the capability and expansion across our HR systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact, high-visibility role.
As a trusted Sr. Systems Engineer, Workday Payroll, you will shape Roku’s journey with Workday in our Enterprise Engineering team, driving both technical and functional People initiatives, playing an integral part in scaling Roku’s HR technology infrastructure and the automation of critical workflows across HR, IT Ops, Payroll, and Recruiting. We are disrupting traditional methods of automating business workflows and applying an Engineering/API-driven design to scale efficiencies in Roku's internal processes. We aim to simplify an inherently complex and rapidly growing landscape and empower our employees to make a larger impact in their respective roles and areas.
What you’ll be doing
- Design, deployment, and maintenance of Workday Payroll, Time, and Absence
- Drive the deployment of feature releases and system maintenance of Workday
- Evaluate the feasibility and impact of system modifications and enhancements to the Workday ecosystem
- Manage system integrations within the architecture of the Workday and middleware; support new and existing integrations
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and application through analysis, clear documentation, and problem resolution
- Analyze and translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications
- Understand and follow Data Governance and ensure attention to data quality, defined integration/development standards and best practices, and security and data privacy standards
We’re excited if you have
- 8+ years of experience working with SaaS/Cloud-based HR/Payroll technology solutions, including significant expertise with Workday modules: US and Global Payroll, Time, and Absence
- Workday Payroll PRO Certified or Partner accredited, which means you’ll probably have a strong understanding of the Workday ecosystem and the ability to navigate the different touchpoints
- Knowledge of Workday implementation tools (Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Workday Studio, Workday Report Writer, and iLoad)
- Successful Workday implementation(s), from needs gathering to vendor evaluation, selection and RFPs, vendor management, and system integration experience
- Understanding of basic database architecture, tables, and functional interactions, and an ability to recognize and understand impacts on downstream systems
- Developed HR business processes and the knowledge of how they impact Payroll systems and technology. You understand that engineering Payroll systems automate processes and provide key insights to HR information and metrics that help support company growth
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate business needs into HR technology solutions
- Solid understanding of software engineering processes, preferably in an environment where innovation and automation/efficiency are practiced
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to distill and articulate key messages to executives, stakeholders, and customers
- Strong experience with interface, networking, data warehousing technologies, design, relational database technologies, and performance tuning
- Experience with Web Services and AP
