Job Summary:

Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the student union which includes contracted services for the retail areas housed in the facility.  Identify and implement ongoing technology projects and coordinate technology support, training, and equipment maintenance for the student union facility.

Essential Functions:

25% Oversee building maintenance program.  Collaborate with the University’s Physical Facilities Operation Center (PFOC) staff in order to effectively and efficiently utilize University resources to accomplish maintenance projects.

25%  Identify and implement ongoing technology projects and coordinate technology support, training and equipment maintenance for the student union facility, department staff and clients.

25% Supervise student staff.

15% Serve as the primary staff with computing services and clients for technology needs.

5% Manage and monitor the maintenance budget.

5% Participate in the annual strategic planning process for staff initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by Associate Director.

Additional Position Information:

Education: Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.

Experience: Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in student union facility management, conference center and production house environment. Current and extensive knowledge of sound, lighting, audio visual technology and computer support requires. Experience producing presentations and special events required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.  Demonstrated leadership ability required. Experience working with students of diverse educational, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds preferred. An articulate understanding of the mission, culture, climate and environment of a metropolitan university preferred.

Leadership: Direct supervision and evaluation of work as a first-line supervisor over non-exempt staff including hiring, terminating, disciplining; or functional guidance and/or project leadership over exempt staff engaged in activities of a recurring basis.

Physical Requirements: Moderate physical effort required involving long periods of standing, walking on rough surfaces, bending and/or stooping; periodic lifting of moderately heavy items (over 25 lbs. -- 50 lbs.).

Working Conditions: No major sources of working conditions discomfort, standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems, and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
