MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, electrical or mechanical equipment; or
Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience.
Requires possession of a valid driver license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully pass a background check that includes a criminal history check and must be approved by the Department of Correction’s contract Manager, or designee and complete required orientation/training in the supervision of inmates, prior to assuming supervision. Shall attend refresher training annually thereafter.
Occasional to moderate travel required.
Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.

JOB DUTIES:
This position has heavy emphasis on carpentry skills, construction and interpretation of building codes. Responsible to the Equipment/Construction Specialist for the facilities at Withlacoochee Forestry Center with respect to health, fire and safety in renovations and repairs.
Shares responsibility for planning the support services requirements for the fixed facilities within Withlacoochee Forestry Center. Coordinate and make repairs and renovations to electrical, mechanical, and structural, plumbing, water, septic, and site preparation of infrastructure. Instruct and assist in the preventative maintenance program. Inspect, repair, and document needs for major renovations. Arrange for facility appraisals and emergency repairs.
