Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with experience in R, Python, and preferably Generative AI to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and maintaining scripts (Python) that generate engineering reports, providing key insights to enhance business intelligence. The role also involves improving the reporting system's coding structure and actively engaging with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to meet their analysis needs. The ideal candidate will leverage cutting-edge AI tools to summarize reports, extract insights, and build a knowledge base for future decision-making. Additionally, you will be responsible for integrating data from various sources, such as PLM, to monitor development builds and ensure continuous improvement of the reporting system.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Script Development: Write and maintain efficient scripts in R and Python to generate engineering reports and provide actionable insights.
- System Improvement: Improve the reporting system’s coding structure to enhance performance and scalability.
- Business Intelligence: Engage with SMEs to understand analysis requirements, deliver insights, and contribute to improved decision-making processes.
- Generative AI Utilization: Leverage Generative AI to summarize reports by extracting key findings and insights, building a knowledge base for future reference.
- AI Tools Implementation: Integrate AI tools, such as chatbots or other interactive platforms, to facilitate access to summarized reports and knowledge bases.
- Data Integration: Utilize the current reporting system and integrate data from sources such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to monitor and analyze development builds.
- Collaborative Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting systems are aligned with overall business goals.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (Graduating May 2024 - December 2024).
- Proficiency in R and Python, developed through coursework, research projects, or internships.
- Proven analytical skills and a strong attention to detail, demonstrated in your academic work or applied projects.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with SMEs and diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge or curiosity about the data storage (HDD) industry—even if your experience has been in academic projects or classes.
- Experience (even through academic projects) with Generative AI, NLP, or other AI tools.
- Exposure to business intelligence platforms and cloud services like Google Cloud or AWS.
- Familiarity with CICD toolchains like Git, Jenkins, Docker (academic, project-based, or internship experience).
- Experience with other programming languages like C++, Java, JavaScript/Node.js—even from side projects or research.
