Senior Director, Finance Management (M2)

We are seeking a Senior Director, Finance Management to provide financial support for Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring financial and operational processes are running timely and efficiently. You will report to the Managing Director, Financial Management and will provide budget holder support, award management, and expense allocation guidance to the cost centers supported.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Sub-award Management (30%)

• Drive efficiency in the sub-award process
• Collaborate with program leadership to develop annual sub-award guidance, agreement template, and process timeline
• Maintain comprehensive sub-award report by state, program, funding type, and partner longevity for leadership team presentation
• Initiate annual partner compliance review process and monitoring assessments
• Conduct quarterly process monitoring assessments

Financial Budgeting and Analysis (30%)

• Partner with the Managing Director to oversee the annual planning and budgeting process for state budgets
• Conduct regular analysis of financial data, and prepare monthly financial performance reports including, but not limited to, budget vs. actual, forecast expenses, and trends
• Provide financial and strategic guidance to leadership team, identifying and addressing financial risks and supporting on national funding source allocations
• Conduct budget reviews to ensure efficient use of resources and advise budget holders on maximizing funds

Award Management (25%)

• Work with Managing Director and Advisor, Award Management to proactively identify funding gaps and provide strategic guidance to fundraising teams to ensure our funding is aligned with our strategy
• Work with Advisor, Award Management on dashboards and support with donor report review
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and established donor requirements

Staff Support (15%)

• Serves as a people manager, responsible for establishing a healthy workplace culture and setting the team pace and direction; promoting staff development, engagement and well-being while holding supervisors and staff accountable for achieving results, demonstrating the organization’s core values, and operating within our ethical standards
• Acts as a backstop, or officer in charge, in the absence of the Managing Director
• Work with team to provide coding guidance to staff for travel, expense reimbursements, invoice payments, and check requests
• Work with team to prepare employee timesheet allocation guidance and follow up on incomplete timesheets and necessary revisions
• Prepare ad hoc analysis reports as requested
• Assist with budget preparation and expense tracking as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
• Professional level of technical or managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to manage the operational activities of a unit or team, or provide the technical and management support related to various size programs, grants or projects.
• Professional proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary range for this position:

• Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $88,400 – $98,800 base salary
