SHINGLING TEAM MEMBER

Reports To: SHINGLES Department Manager                                 

Department: SHINGLES                        

Job Status: Full Time Hourly 7:00am – 3:30pm                  

Mobility Profile: On Location

Position Summary: We are seeking a candidate with experience relevant to the duties and responsibilities outlined below. As a member of the Home Building Team, you will be responsible for performing manufacturing and production operations within the SHINGLES DEPARTMENT, following established production methods and maintaining safe work practices to ensure efficiency and safety throughout the home building process.

Job Expectations:

  • This role requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork.
  • The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring attetion to detail and adaptability.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • In this department; team members do: heavy lifting, carry an extra 20lbs of nails and staples and will need to be able to move bundles of Shingles that weigh around 60 to 90 lbs.
  • It’s also hotter up in this area, as you are at a higher elevation.

Work Environment and Requirements:

  • Daily working conditions: hot & humid in summer, fast paced, loud, dusty and dirty, and can be stressful at times. The shingles do get brought to you and you do not need to haul them up a ladder, as we have catwalks even with the roofline to make it easier on your body. It is a position that you would be on your knees a lot and bent over most of the time when doing the actual shingling part of this position. 

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, steel-toe footwear, ear protection, and safety glasses must be always worn.

  • The production facility experiences noise and dust. Temperature conditions can be warm and humid during summer months despite cooling systems; winter conditions are generally mild. Appropriate attire for varying temperatures is expected.

  • The position can be physically and mentally demanding, with tasks involving repetitive motion, bending, twisting, and ladder climbing.

  • Consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential.

  • A positive attitude and cooperative spirit are necessary to contribute effectively as part of a team. Hungry, Humble, People Smart!

SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES IN SHINGLES:

  • Blowing insulation into roof
  • Installing of ice guards, drip edge, ply dry, shingles, roof vents, chimney stacks, water heater stacks, roof decking, dormers, soffit/facia, & close plastic
  • Load and unload shingles onto roof
  • Nailing down shingles
  • Check for exposed nails, loose shingles, or gaps.
  • Carry out OSB boards
  • Practice safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe while observing all relevant OSHA regulations.  
  • Work in a team environment to produce products that conform to our quality standards while achieving our productivity objectives.
  • Serve as a good steward for our company’s physical assets, protecting them from damage and misuse, reporting all needed maintenance, keeping assigned areas clean and orderly.  
  • Assist Team Leader and Area Coordinator to plan and organize the manufacturing activities in your area by communicating anticipated material shortages, identifying required tool maintenance, and communicating any quality and productivity issues.  
  • Perform other duties assigned.
