Our clinical services include advanced MRI imaging, pain management, non-surgical and surgical treatment plans, rheumatology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, wellness, and sports and sports training. Ortho Access walk-in clinics provide same day care for orthopedic injuries. Comprehensive care offered all in one place enables physicians, therapists and staff to work closely together, so that patients and families achieve better outcomes. Collaborative care is also more efficient. In many cases, IBJI services are substantially less expensive than those provided by large healthcare systems and emergency rooms.


Summary


The Athletic Trainer (ATC) Physician Extender is an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice that must excel in IBJI’s core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. The ATC Physician Extender functions as a liaison between the patients, physicians, and clinical support staff. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing day-to-day needs of a specific physician’s practice, providing superior care to patients, and educating the patients on injury and other health-related awareness/prevention topics. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best patient experience possible.


It is IBJI’s expectation that ATC’s will conduct themselves in a manner which is at all times, courteous, professional and promotes a positive image of IBJI. The ATC will at times be called upon to act as a physician’s representative, and as such will set the example for other employees in dependability, punctuality, positive attitude and adherence to policies and procedures.


We are looking for a looking for a full-time Athletic Trainer to work directly alongside an interventional pain management physician who possesses more than 15 years of specialized expertise in the field.


Responsibilities


  • Promote excellent patient care
  • Assist with patient examinations and treatments
  • Order tests/labs based on MD/PA direction
  • Manage/coordinate clinical schedule(s) as directed
  • Takes an active role within the patient medical team
  • Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI
  • Communicate with physicians, regarding patients’ conditions, treatments, and protocols
  • Treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician
  • Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills to patients to educate them on their plan of care
  • Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient records within the electronic medical record system
  • Maintain, order, and stock supplies/inventory as instructed
  • Independently schedule and perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing, as assigned
  • Return voicemail and email messages from patients and clinical staff in a timely manner
  • Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing
  • Always follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment



Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program
  • New graduates are welcome to apply
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Must hold Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with DME fitting and application.
  • Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
  • Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
  • Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day
