Job Description
Step into a pivotal role as an Accountant in our innovative pod-based structure, where you’ll be at the forefront of client financial management and team leadership. This position offers an exciting blend of hands-on accounting work and people management, allowing you to leverage your QuickBooks Online expertise while developing your leadership skills. You’ll play a crucial role in our expansion plans, overseeing a team of bookkeepers and directly interacting with clients to provide top-tier financial services. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who excels in problem-solving and aspires to grow in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead financial management for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian standards
- Lead and mentor a team of three bookkeepers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work
- Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements and reports, providing valuable insights to clients
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and explaining complex financial concepts with clarity
- Implement and refine financial controls and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
- Collaborate closely with controllers and team members to ensure seamless pod operations
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing innovative financial management solutions
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes with precision and timeliness
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience and professional accounting designation (CPA) or actively pursuing certification is a plus
- Proven proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential
- Strong foundation in accounting principles, with a keen understanding of debits and credits
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for explaining financial concepts to non-experts
- Demonstrated leadership experience or a strong desire to develop team management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations is highly preferred
- Comfort with remote work and virtual client interactions
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Openness to learning and adapting to new technologies and processes
