Summary
The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and programs to assure corporate compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations applicable to both power and water operations. Oversees policy development relevant to SRP’s environmental responsibilities consistent with SRP corporate objectives and goals. Major areas of activity include air quality protection, water quality protection, waste management, cultural resource stewardship and biological resource protection and mitigation.
What You'll Do
- Maintain an understanding of SRP's responsibilities under environmental laws and regulations; analyze, recommend, and coordinate required actions.
- Direct strategy and planning for SRP environmental compliance programs and initiate actions in accordance with SRP policy, government regulations and executive management direction.
- Direct analysis on the effects of government actions, regulations, and legislation to determine SRP action; develop strategies and plans for addressing change.
- Direct the assessment of environmental risk of SRP and recommends actions to limit SRP's liability.
- Manage systems, applications, and data required to support monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting processes.
- Provide information and guidance to SRP departments on current and prospective rules, regulations, and legislation that affects SRP’s power and water strategies, and water and power operations.
- Promote cross functional and multidisciplinary employee development.
- Direct the evaluation and selection of consultants/contractors, contractor scope of work and the management of programs and budgets for environmental programs.
- Track and assess industry developments through participation in utility-focused forums, EPRI research, and strategic relationships with other stakeholders.
- Participate in litigation strategy and provide testimony at public and legal hearings.
