This position is based at our Accounting offices in Montpelier. After a 4-6 month training period, employees will have the option to work from home 2 days per week, with the remaining days being on-site. The Accounts Payable Specialist can select their preferred 8-hour shift time between the hours of 7am-5pm Monday through Friday.

Due to system upgrades that have reduced the data entry needs of this position, the AP Specialist focuses primarily on communication and collaboration with internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will bring strong relationship building skills and a drive for continuous improvement to the role.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely check processing by keeping current with the vendor invoice processing.  The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for matching, batching and coding invoices; gathering backup for weekly check runs, sending out payments, maintaining heavy vendor contact by providing exceptional customer service for any inquiries or discrepancies, receiving the company invoices, auditing for appropriate expense coding and signature approvals, and data entry into the Premier Connect system.  Additional responsibilities include the day-to-day research and resolution of vendor problem invoices and credit memos, as well as completion of weekly, monthly and year-end process. The Accounts Payable Specialist may be responsible for some additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or business-related field with 2-3 years’ experience in Accounts Payable. Equivalent combination of experience and education will be evaluated on an individual basis.

EXPERIENCE:

1-3 years of relevant accounts payable experience.
