Columbia Grain International, LLC. is a long time established full-service grain company in the grain and pulses business. We are headquartered in Portland, Oregon and own/operate over 50 elevators and offices throughout WA, ID, MN, MT, NE and ND to support our domestic and export sales program.

Position Description:
The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant will be to assist in providing financial information to management by preparing reports, reviewing data and make necessary adjustments and corrections. The Staff Accountant will work with the other members of the Accounting team to meet operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.
Qualifications
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes the daily bank reconciliation.
- Updates the daily FX Report.
- Updates the daily Canadian FX rate in Agtech.
- Performs balance sheet reconciliations for the cash accounts, prepaid insurance, real estate taxes, and others as assigned.
- Posts GL entries as needed.
- Finalizes bank checking and assembles the bank recon packet.
- Reconciles Canadian bank accounts monthly.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation for all work.
- Assists CFO, Controller and Accounting Management with special projects.
- Assists with year-end audit requests and documentation gathering.
- Collaborates with the Accounting Management to research as needed.
- Leads/prepares broker commission invoices to be paid weekly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience, or combination of comparable education and experience.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP.
- Familiar with general closing procedures, internal controls and financial statements.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and proficient and hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels within the company.
- Ability to uphold and maintain discretion and care regarding confidential and sensitive personnel and company information.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the function of the position
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments with deadlines.
- Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills to evaluate problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- SQL Server, Agvance and AgTech accounting software experience a plus.
