About the role

Description

Assists the public with animal impounds, redemptions, adoptions, and licensing. Coordinates immunization, sterilization, and other medical services provided at the shelter. Compiles and reviews data for reports and required actions by licensed pet owners.


Starting Pay: $18.42 per hour

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist prospective owners in selection of animals for adoption
  • Maintain list of requested animal types and prospective pet owners
  • Collect fines and fees
  • Review license database to identify owners of lost pets
  • Compile daily animal intake record
  • Type correspondence, maintain database and filing system, answer phones and deal with the public
  • Prepare daily revenue report for deposit

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Able to obtain a Euthanasia Certificate within 6 months of being hired
  • Have a Utah driver's license or the ability to obtain one

Language Skills

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.
  • Exposure to intermittent stress as a result of human behavior.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
