Maintenance Specialist- Special Projects

Position Description Summary/Purpose:

This position provides routine maintenance services to the University school buildings as well as Residential and Commercial properties.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

• Painting, drywall, carpentry, electrical and plumbing work related to building and site repairs and improvements.
• Flexible work hours
• Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

Other Functions:

• Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation permits.
• Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
• Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

• General trade skills (painting, drywall, carpentry, electrical and plumbing)
• Ability to use common hand and power tools
• Ability to follow directions and work independently
• Ability to maintain proper schedules
• Strong customer service skills
• Good communication skills

Education, Training and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Five years working experience in the maintenance or carpentry field

Special Requirements:

• CT Drivers license and insured vehicle

X Depth perception (i.e. three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and

spatial relationships)
