Job Description Summary:

The Staff Pharmacist contributes to therapeutic decision-making by participating in patient care, particularly pharmaceutical care, providing drug information, formal and informal presentations and consultations on medication use in the hospital. In addition to staffing in the Main Pharmacy, the pharmacist may also have opportunities to be the Critical Care Pharmacist, ED Pharmacist, Transition of Care Pharmacist and/or the Oncology Outpatient Infusion Pharmacist, based on training and certifications. He/she assures the accurate and efficient distribution of drugs and oversees the usage of pharmaceuticals within the facility. He/she also promotes rational, cost-effective use of drugs within the facility while assuring the quality of pharmaceutical care and optimal clinical outcomes. In addition, the staff pharmacist provides authoritative drug information to other health care professionals, patients and the public.

Requirements:
EDUCATION
Requires level of education necessary for licensure as a pharmacist by the California Board of Pharmacy. Prefer graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy. Prefer Pharm.D. degree and/or completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
Two years experience in an acute care hospital pharmacy preferred.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Registered Pharmacist Required at hire
