The MSTS Capital Asset Engineering team has an opening for a highly skilled Engineering and System Technologist (Senior Technologist) to perform work in support of the Nevada National Security Site at the North Las Vegas facility. The Engineering and System Senior Technologist will support the Capital Asset Engineering team in the management of design engineering deliverables for Capital Line-Item projects from cradle to grave. This may include documenting emerging project issues and risks, providing support for project discovery, project scope development, and support for identifying functional requirements for projects and systems.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in walk-downs, generate sketches, help develop conceptual designs, evaluate existing systems, and generate and/or review functional requirement documents.

  • Contribute to development of solutions to resolve design or scope issues.

  • Assist in the tracking and distribution of engineering deliverables for interorganizational use.

  • Coordinate between Project Engineering and Field Engineering to arrange for the distribution and review of engineering change documents.

  • Coordinate review of Design Engineering deliverables by internal and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate subcontractor visits at the Construction Site.

     

  • Document key elements for action or follow up during project meetings.

  • Input information into various databases for metric tracking by project oversight stakeholders.

  • Work under general supervision with limited technical direction provided as necessary.

  • Perform work of moderate complexity independently and make recommendations on issues and problem solutions.

  • Frequently coordinate work with peers, colleagues, customers, and vendors to plan and complete tasks related to project engineering deliverables.

  • Independent work is reviewed for technical judgment, accuracy and completeness.

  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

  • Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 5 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 7 years’ progressive related experience.
  • Knowledge of how codes and standards of other disciplines affect their discipline.
  • Knowledge typically within one technical discipline or related disciplines.
  • Ability to interpret codes and standards related to engineering discipline.
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground for extended periods of time. 
  • Execute work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
  • Experience working as a member of a team of professional and technical personnel.
  • In-depth experience analyzing complex technical problems and developing solutions in a systematic manner.
  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change). 
    • May be altered based on project needs.
    • Must be able to work occasional overtime, if needed due to project schedules.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
