Position Details

The Office of Development and University Relations at The University of Tampa has an opening for an Assistant Director of Annual Giving. Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, this position is responsible for identification, cultivation, and solicitation of lead annual gift prospects. Other duties include assisting with direct mail, e-mail, and social media solicitation efforts, providing support for the UTampa Faculty/Staff giving campaign, UTampa Give Day, Rene Martinez Sr. Golf Classic, and any additional Annual Giving events and procedures. Occasional regional travel, and the ability to work weekends and evenings is required. 


Duties and Responsibilities
1. Annual Giving Campaign Strategy & Execution
•    Partner with the Director of Annual Giving to design and implement annual fundraising strategies focused on donor acquisition, retention, and upgrading.
•    Execute multichannel solicitation campaigns—including direct mail, email, phone, text, and social media—with compelling and personalized messaging.
•    Lead segmentation and testing strategies to improve engagement and response rates across key constituent groups (alumni, parents, students, faculty/staff, friends).
•    Oversee the text to give program to help increase donor and alumni engagement.
2. Portfolio Management, Prospect Discovery & Leadership Annual Giving
•    Manage a portfolio of qualified leadership annual giving prospects and through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship methods make solicitations at the leadership annual gift level and Minaret Society level, ($2,500).
•    Identify and qualify new prospects through giving patterns, prospect research, and discovery visits or face-to-face calls.
•    Develop appropriate individual and institutional cultivation strategies, solicit input from key leadership stakeholders internal and external. Implement and support cultivation activities.
3. Give Day and Digital Engagement
•    Partner with the Director of Annual Giving to coordinate, plan, and market university-wide/external giving initiatives and events for UTampa Give Day and crowdfunding efforts.
•    Work closely with the Director of Annual Giving to optimize social media campaigns, text to give campaigns, and website content that drive giving behavior.
•    Collaborate with alumni, athletics, academic departments, affinity groups, and etc. to launch peer-led crowdfunding efforts.
4. Ambassador Management and Student Philanthropy
•    Recruit, train, and manage Faculty/Staff ambassadors and develop toolkits and messaging guides to empower ambassadors as effective advocates and fundraisers.
•    Support student philanthropy efforts, including senior class gift, and integrate giving education into student life or orientation programs.
5. Donor Stewardship and Recognition
•    Collaborate with the Advancement team to ensure timely donor acknowledgments and implement creative stewardship strategies.
•    Collaborate on impact reporting, donor communications, and recognition activities.
6. Data Analysis and Reporting
•    Analyze donor trends, campaign performance, and segment behavior to inform strategy.
•    Monitor vendor activity and ROI of annual giving programs.
7. Collaboration and Campus Engagement
•    Work cross-functionally with alumni relations and development teams to help build programs to increase alumni engagement and giving.
•    Represent Annual Giving at campus events to build relationships and enhance visibility.
•    Regularly update the development website with engaging and relevant content to encourage giving.
•    Assist other areas on campus with fundraising efforts as needed.
•    Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds.
8. Professional Development and Sector Awareness
•    Stay current on fundraising trends, technologies, and best practices through ongoing learning.
•    Apply emerging strategies to enhance engagement and campaign innovation.
9. Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree required.

2. 2-3 years external relations or similar experience, with a preference for non-profit or fundraising experience.
