Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a key member of Fortune Brands Product Development team to ensure that the portfolio aligns with the business strategies, provides the right balance between Growth & Value while optimizing efficiency in resource and dollar investments
  • Partner with the Market SBUs, Innovation and Operations team to supply project timing, resource and budget inputs to Growth & Improve product plans, drive global project specifications and execution of projects for Growth & Value
  • Serve as a key member of Fortune Brands Global Product Development Technical leadership team to improve consistency of global execution, increase resource flexibility, improve development velocity, drive efficiencies and maximize value creation

 

Project Management Leadership

  • Lead program and project management for Fortune Brands, establishing the Project Management Center of Excellence across FBIN
  • Partner with Fortune Brands leadership to lead the development and management of project plans that execute the product strategies to achieve Growth and OI objectives and align with FBIN’s overall strategic portfolio requirements
  • Partner with Operations internal and external suppliers to ensure the most efficient and effective project management capabilities are in place to align strategic decision-making, stage gate reviews, design reviews and risk mitigation, in order to successfully execute product strategies.
  • Accountable for directing a portfolio of complex and wide-ranging product development projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders and enterprise leaders.
  • Lead multiple cross-channel, project management teams in validation of financial forecasts, reconciliation of resources and management of project expenditures.  Establish and manage global project budgets. 
  • Represent the project management function managing all technical product development activity in various project governance and inter-department forums including FBIN executive team and potentially Fortune Brand Home and Security (FBHS) updates.
  • Responsible for attracting, developing and maintaining the technical project management talent to successfully execute the product development strategies.
  • Responsible for leading major change management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Innovation and Insights to understand and drive the Consumer Experience into FBIN products.  Understand consumer’s needs/wants/desires; apply these insights into impactful product attributes and features. 

 

Manufacturing integration and launch of new products

  • Lead the team to integrate and launch all new products into FBIN manufacturing facilities
  • Communicate effectively with Global Product Development, Industrial Design, Global Sourcing, Supply Chain and FBIN Manufacturing from project inception through launch
  • Drive and support all manufacturing stage gate deliverables for production readiness
  • Ensure all SAP documentation is timely and accurate (BOMs, routings, etc.)
  • Communicate and resolve project launch impediments at the FBIN manufacturing facilities
  • Support all quality deliverables for each project to meet PPAP and pilot expectations
  • Launch projects on time and hit all key milestones.  Communicate and resolve project impediments

 

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Create and implement strategic vision for this team.  Lead transformational activities that drive step-change improvements in speed, efficiency, cost and accuracy
  • Steward and integrate Manufacturing, Sourcing, Supply Chain and Global Product Development strategies through their implementation into new product launches

 

Team Growth

  • Drive personal growth of team members through frequent 1:1’s, coaching, etc.
  • Create and execute robust individual development plans for all Associates

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; MBA is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively responsible positions involving complex program and project management in an engineering/technical product development environment is required.  Experience in the area of consumer durable products is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in successfully leading multiple cross-functional and global teams
  • Strong penchant for collaboration with technical, manufacturing, supply chain, financial and marketing professionals
  • Must demonstrate and provide examples of executive level exposure and presentations
  • Broad and working knowledge of project management techniques and best practices including but not limited to:  agile, work
