Job Description
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Program Manager will support our Supply Chain maintenance team. The role develops and executes a robust and growing EHS program. This EHS program leader will oversee all issues related to health and safety of our Facilities Supply Chain employees including developing, executing, and sustaining company health & safety policies, standards, programs, and processes. This role will also be accountable for ensuring adherence to local, regional, national EHS regulations as well as Nordstrom policy in conjunction with other EHS organizations in corporate and operations areas.
Responsibilities
- Implement and socialize the Facilities Safety Management System (SMS) as well as provide updates and improvements to all EHS programs.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Facilities Supply Chain employees on EHS policies, practices and regulatory requirements.
- Support Facilities Supply Chain locations with regulatory agency issues and inspections (i.e. OSHA, Fire Department) including responding to agencies.
- Lead or assist with the investigation of incidents to determine root cause(s) and prevent recurrence.
- Review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, analyzing injury trends and implementing corrective measures to minimize future occurrences.
- Manage Supply Chain related incidents and manage after injury actions such as case management (e.g. return to work, work restrictions etc.).
- Engage and coordinate, at regular intervals, with Supply Chain Operations EHS to ensure alignment.
- Execute Facilities Supply Chain audit and assurance activities to measure compliance and develop corrective and preventative action plans (CAPA).
- Develop and release regular EHS related communications safety & health bulletins, alerts, and communications for Facilities Supply Chain.
- Network with Supply Chain Facilities Construction & Engineering Services to solve EHS related issues in Supply Chain sites and work on engineering solutions that can eliminate or reduce risk to maintenance technicians (e.g. installation of catwalks or decking in frequent maintenance areas, confined spaces, arc flash etc.)
- Perform facility compliance inspections or audits, document results, and support future compliance by developing strategies, promoting training, and/or providing safety coaching.
- Evaluate, develop and implement contractor/vendor EHS requirements and report on metrics and KPIs for appropriate supplier engagements.
- Serve as primary Facilities Supply Chain point-of-contact to monitor & communicate for emergencies such as severe weather, wildfire, earthquakes or other conditions as they pertain to human safety and security.
- Assist in development of behavior-based safety program and be accountable for successful implementation of the program at all Supply Chain locations.
- Collect and evaluate KPIs on EHS training completion targets for all Supply Chain locations.
- Travel to support Facilities Supply Chain initiatives. Travel up to 25% may be required.
Position Requirements
- BS/MS in EHS, engineering or related science degree
- Leadership experience in environmental, health and safety management in an industrial setting (5 years)
- Highly motivated and self-managing with strong ability to work cross-functionally and at multiple levels in the organization
- Experience developing and implementing safety health and environment strategy and programs
- Effective change management skillset and ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects simultaneously in a program management capacity
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong influential abilities
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant qualifications preferred
