Job Description

XP Power is seeking a highly-skilled and experienced Senior Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for providing in-depth root cause understanding of product returns from customers. This hands-on position requires close collaboration with multiple engineering disciplines and a strong background in switch mode power supply design or similar technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fault reproduction, troubleshooting, system characterization, and root cause analysis of product issues, while ensuring efficient bug tracking and resolution.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering and support team members to troubleshoot complex technical issues across a wide range of systems.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical reports to customers detailing findings from product failure investigations.
  • Participate in new product development during the qualification phase for training and ramp-up.
  • Collaborate with the development team on failure analysis and corrective action validation during the qualification phase.
  • Provide expert advice to internal and external customers on corrective actions based on the results of the analysis.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion circuit topologies, such as fly-back, forward, boost, buck, and buck-boost converters.
  • Experience with high voltage and firmware debug experience is a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and/or power semiconductor operational characteristics, with the ability to apply fault isolation techniques at both component and board levels.
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment for characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and across functional departments.
  • A proactive and aggressive attitude, with the ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.
