<p><span><span><b>Introduction - Instrument Engineer - </b><b>Valves</b></span></span></p>
<p><span>The Instrument Department in SBM is responsible for the design of Process Control and Instrumentation Systems, Integrated Control & Safety Systems, Fire & Gas Systems and Telecom Systems. This includes actuated On/Off valves, Control Valves, Pressure Relief Valves and non-reclosing pressure relief devices such as Rupture Discs</span></p>

<p><span>In the FEED and subsequent Basic and Detailed phases of a project, the engineers start with defining the concept and then continue to work-out the details of the systems, implement vendor data and work closely together with our sub-contractors to prepare the detailed documentation for construction, commissioning and operation. By making use of reputable suppliers, standardized solutions and experienced contractors SBM is able to achieve this in a challenging time frame maintaining high quality.</span></p>

<p><span><span><b>Tasks</b></span></span></p>
<p><span>The role of the Senior Instrument Valve engineer comprises of the following tasks:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span>Continuously consider cost, constructability, operability and maintainability.</span></li>
<li><span>Prepare specifications for various valve packages based on SBM Group Technical Standards (GTS) and specific client requirements as applicable.</span></li>
<li><span>Act as Package Engineer for instrument valve packages and work in close cooperation with the Package Manager and Buyer of the Supply Chain Group to perform technical bid evaluations.</span></li>
<li><span>Guide and coach more junior valve engineers in SBM Rotterdam office as well as engineers in other SBM locations worldwide.</span></li>
<li><span>Review of vendor documents and support inspectors with FAT</span></li>
<li><span>Advise material/corrosion engineers on the most cost effective valve body and trim materials available in the market to balance cost, quality and delivery time</span></li>
<li><span>Challenge vendor proposed control valve solutions with respect to sizes, materials and valve type</span></li>
<li><span>Specify the appropriate actuator type and pneumatic or hydraulic control scheme where applicable including partial valve stroke test functionality.</span></li>
<li><span>Specify the appropriate control valve positioner diagnostic requirements to match the ICSS valve asset monitoring software.</span></li>
<li><span>Translate Functional Safety requirements as specified in the Safety Requirements Specification in actuated On/Off valve datasheets.</span></li>
<li><span>Review valve specifications prepared by Engineering sub-contractors to ensure quality and consistency with SBM standards.</span></li>
<li><span>Ensure that the selected valves are fully in line with the Regulatory regime, international guidelines, Classification requirements, SBM standards and Client requirements.</span></li>
<li><span>Provide assistance to Supply chain Category Manager in qualifying (new) valve vendors.</span></li>
<li><span>Provide input to SBM Group engineering- and technical standards and Guidelines for preparing, evaluating and testing of valve packages.</span></li>
<li><span>Provide technical input and review relevant GTS valve and material standards.</span></li>
<li><span>Support Operations in troubleshooting and provide advise on measures to be taken to resolve operational valve problems.</span></li>
<li><span>Provide technical support to Brownfield projects</span></li>
<li><span>Based on GTS and client requirements prepare project performance standards for mentioned valves</span></li>
</ul>
