Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 34-bed Memory Support Unit.

We are seeking a highly qualified, full-time Life Enrichment Assistant to join our team to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population. 


The Life Enrichment Assistant is responsible for assisting in implementing a program of therapeutic recreational activities for the health services residents including Assisted Living and Memory Support. The Assistant will support an activity program fostering the basic concepts of wellness, to maintain residents at their maximum potential level of functioning. The program shall maintain a balance of recreational activities that facilitates physical and mental stimulation including socialization, education, fitness, creating and performing arts, and crafts. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with therapeutic recreational activities (including evening and weekend activities) for Health Services residents.
  • Maintain activity progress notes in each resident’s chart. Review status regularly with the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with other staff members relating to scheduling of events and use of facilities. Assist Life Enrichment Coordinator with posting all activity calendars on each unit and provide a calendar to all residents.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and functioning of various resident activities and events.
  • Attend individualized care plan meetings as assigned by the Life Enrichment Coordinators.
  • Drive residents to and from activities offsite as assigned by the Life Enrichment Coordinators.
  • The position falls under the direct supervision of the Director of Health & Wellness. The position is not required to supervise or direct other employees.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least two (2) years of related work experience with the elderly and dementia populations.
  • Prefer Certified Activity Professional or equivalent, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be considered.
  • Adult CPR certification, First Aid, AED certification required.
  • Current VA Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required. CDL preferred.
  • Ability to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to work with the elderly population in a courteous, friendly, productive manner, demonstrating patience, compassion, flexibility, adaptability, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to consistently perform duties with consideration for resident’s rights, demonstrating integrity and discretion in the care of the residents and in handling their health information.
  • Ability to evaluate the status of individuals and safely implement effective therapeutic programs.
  • Demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and motivation to work with the elderly population.
  • Demonstrate service excellence through daily interactions and be skilled at active listening and public speaking.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Observe proper safety protocols and appropriate sanitary techniques.
  • Proficiency with applicable computer programs and databases
