Position Overview

The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a detail-oriented office associate who will perform a variety of complex specialized clerical duties for supervisory staff at the Woodlawn Family and Community Resource Center in Cook County.  This position prepares and maintains complex, highly specialized records and reports and receives telephone calls, determines the nature of the calls, directs callers to staff. The Division’s mission is to assist Illinois residents by connecting them with public assistance programs and services.  Through our programs, services and prevention efforts, the Division improves the health and well-being of individuals and promotes self-sufficiency and integrity of families of Illinois.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs a variety of complex specialized clerical duties for supervisory staff. 
  2. Prepares and maintains complex, highly specialized records and reports.
  3. Receives telephone calls, determines the nature of the calls, directs callers to staff.
  4. Maintains and organizes customer appeals files, records, reports and documents pertinent to hearings.
  5. Provides clerical office support.
  6. Receives and distributes mail, manual releases and memos.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  2. Requires two (2) years of office experience. 
  3. Requires the ability to keyboard accurately from copy at a minimum net rate of 45 words per minute.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.
