Pay Range
$325,560 - $414,984 Annually for the TSM.2 Level
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. Job Description
We have an opening for a Deputy Division Leader (DDL) in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED). DTED is a multidisciplinary organization of approximately 750 technical and administrative professionals whose primary focus is to provide engineering expertise to the Strategic Deterrence (SD) program. You will be a member of the DTED Senior Management Team (SMT) and partner with the Division Leader (DL) to manage the division’s personnel, financial, and operational resources ensuring we simultaneously meet our programmatic customer needs and enhance our employee’s work experience. This position may include administrative supervisor responsibilities. This position reports directly to the DTED Division Leader and is in the Engineering Directorate.
Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
You will
- Lead and contribute to the development of the organization, its key leaders, and a culture that embraces teamwork and provides an environment where everyone’s contribution is valued. Foster a work environment that stimulates and retains high-quality personnel.
- Participate as a member of DTED’s senior management team in the formulation and execution of short-term and strategic goals for the Division.
- Provide consultation to the DL and the SMT in addressing workforce issues and ensuring effective staff development, promotion, succession planning and recognition.
- Represent the Division Leader across a broad range of issues in a variety of environments, internal and external meetings, working groups, and special assignments, including preparing and giving presentations.
- Provide direction in the overall conduct and coordination of personnel management activities, including but not limited to performance review, alignment, and salary management, activities for recruiting, hiring, promotions, transfers, training, and career development for the Division, and personnel issues that arise.
- Support the Division’s obligation to anticipate and meet technical and programmatic needs of program customers, including providing strategic technical advice to employees, programs, and management
- Develop solutions to highly complex problems that require innovative approaches and/or technologies that may not yet exist.
- Mentor and coach technical and administrative staff members and foster a culture of mentorship and workforce development.
- Participate in Engineering Directorate initiatives and support the Engineering DDL forum’s efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Significant experience successfully leading technical initiatives in engineering or scientific disciplines.
- Significant leadership and success supervising personnel, resource planning and monitoring, while working with a diverse organization comprised of engineers, technical, and administrative staff.
- Significant experience executing performance management activities and providing feedback to employees.
- Demonstrated ability to make personnel and operational decisions that are based on aggregate information and the recommendations of others, and that significantly affect the ability of the organization and Laboratory to achieve its overall
