Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Manager, Market Development – Latam & Caribbean
You will report to the General Manager, Market Development, Latam & Caribbean Region and are open to travel within the region 25 to 40% of your time, possible other regions such as US or Finland.
What will you be doing?
Market development is a key function in originating new opportunities and implementing the Energy Business Strategy in the AMER area. It creates a market and originates opportunities for our flexibility value proposition/ technology in selected key focus countries through: (i) market understanding & modelling, (ii) stakeholder influencing, (iii) advocating for policy changes, (iv) defining value propositions, (v) influencing and changing IRP’s/PDP’s/tenders.
You will be responsible for leading the market development activities in selected countries in the Latam & Caribbean area to generate future growth by opening new markets for our technology and services. This is done by influencing key decision makers of stakeholders and potential customers to change their long-term resource plans and strategies to enable high penetration of renewables and flexibility in their power systems.

Drive Latam growth by originating new business opportunities determine prospects for opening other new markets for Wartsila's flexible generation.

Develop and execute the market development strategy and action plans for selected countries in the LATAM & Caribbean Area area for thermal balancing and base load solutions.

Manage the making of market-specific power system analyses, meaningful power generation investment scenarios, market level value propositions, and business proposals to target customers.

Identify and prioritize key decision makers from customers and stakeholders in selected target countries.

You will continuously interact with a wide range of external stakeholders from policy makers and research institutes to key power industry companies. Lead stakeholder influencing actions to change their investment strategy in close co-operation with other Energy Business functions/areas.

Drive change in long-term strategy and short-term tendering requirements of utilities in key markets

Develop internal relationships to leverage the team output (Business Development, Area Sales, etc.), coordinate and synchronize activities with the Latam & Caribbean sales organizations.

Identify, prioritise and interact with key external stakeholders and decision-makers from utilities, policymakers, consultants, and financiers in selected target countries. Develop a strong on-the-ground network for your focal areas and target countries.
As an ideal candidate you would have

A Master’s degree in Energy, Business Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Minimum of five years of experience in the power or energy industry.

Comprehensive understanding of the energy sector, power generation structures and electricity market design
