Together, we will become the world's leading cancer reference laboratory.  Position Summary: The biomedical equipment technician role is responsible for all aspects of the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment throughout the laboratory. Utilizing a work order system the technician will perform planned maintenance, repairs, and electrical safety checks on a multitude of devices and maintain documentation showing compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.  Core Responsibilities: 

• Complete PM, repairs, and installation qualifications as assigned
• Calibrating, operating, and troubleshooting equipment
• Inspect new laboratory equipment for safe installation and operation
• Assist laboratory professionals in good equipment practices
• Maintain good documenting practices on all equipment maintenance and repairs
• Maintain continuing education on all appropriate equipment and testing devices
• Effectively communicates all maintenance or building related events to affected personnel
• Provide operational knowledge to staff to improve the use of biomedical equipment
• Identify trends, unusual activity, and repeated activity and report to management to assist in continuously improving the department
• Make recommendations to department leadership for product or system improvements, including procedural steps, additional training, and/or documentation enhancements
• Attend trainings to expand devices you are capable of repairing, PM, and calibrate.

Education & Qualifications:  

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering preferred
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES) certifications a plus
• 3+ years’ experience in a related field within a Hospital or Laboratory setting with degree
• 5+ years’ experience in a related field within a Hospital or Laboratory setting w/o degree
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to execute projects systematically
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, written and verbal
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
