JOB PURPOSE

This leader serves World Vision International’s (WVI) Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and the Global Marketing & Communications (GMC) leadership team to ensure that Global Marketing & Communication’s 100+ staff and $15M+ operating budget are deployed for maximum strategic value to WVI and World Vision offices. As Global Marketing & Communications (GMC) delivers on its value proposition, it will enable World Vision offices to increase annual private revenue from the current $1.6B to $2.3B, as envisioned in Our Promise, World Vision’s global strategy.

This role includes leadership of the following key functions within GMC:

  • Strategy Design and Delivery.
  • Planning.
  • Engagement Operating Model.
  • Executive Forum Strategic Communications.

SCOPE / DISTRUBUTION OF RESPONSABILITES

30 % - Strategy Design and Delivery:

Drive strategic clarity and alignment so that GMC delivers on its value proposition and accelerates achievement of Our Promise. Key responsibilities include:

  • Equip GMC core team to develop and refine a clear GMC strategic direction
  • Ensure GMC strategic direction is clear to all GMC staff and stakeholders
  • Design and monitoring of performance indicators that show progress, gaps, and opportunities
  • Ensure GMC’s priorities are aligned with the strategic direction.

30% - Planning: 

Lead function-wide integrated planning across 100+ staff and a budget of $15M+. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Develop and oversee an improved, fully integrated, agile GMC planning approach
  • Ensure GMC plans and budgets are aligned with strategy and priorities
  • Ensure key strategic performance indicators are cascaded through staff performance plans
  • Communicate integrated plans to GMC staff and stakeholders

20% - Engagement Operating Model:

Oversee GMC’s engagement operating model for how 100+ GMC staff are deployed to engage with WV offices to deliver on the private revenue goals in Our Promise.  Key areas of leadership and oversight include:

  • Design and implement a new office engagement operating model that clarifies and aligns the engagement efforts of 100+ GMC staff
  • Lead design and implementation of a highly strategic, data-driven approach to segment offices into differing engagement approaches

20% - Executive Forum Strategic Communications:

Influence and enable action at the executive and board level through strategic communications and forum coordination. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Coordinate, and author where needed, all GMC board-level communications and other executive communications on behalf of the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer as needed
  • Co- lead, along with the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Resource Development Leadership Council (consisting of the Chief Marketing Officer of the largest Support Offices) which focuses and directs the global fundraising agenda and priorities for achieving Strategic Initiative 5 of Our Promise. 
  • Improve coordination and alignment across all GMC key meetings; design and plan Resource Development Workshop.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSE, REGISTRATION, AND /OR CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or Strategy.
  • 10 years+ experience as a marketing or strategy leader in a major, international marketing organisation (either for profit or non-profit).
  • Significant background in strategy and planning.
  • Proven record of excellent communication and written skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues and interpret data in a clear, compelling manner to executive and board-level audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and clearly articulate functional strategy, priorities, and plans.
