About the role

Reports To: Coordinator, Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas

 

Salary: This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position at 232 days, grant-funded position for 3 years with a salary in the range of $82,572.00 - 100,067.00. Position duration is 3 years but is dependent upon grant funds provided to ESC Region13 from the Texas Education Agency.

 

Job Summary (Primary Purpose): The Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas (LIFT) District Coach builds strong relationships with district leaders to drive instructional leadership, HQIM planning, and implementation at the district level. They are responsible for working closely with the LIFT Leads (LLs) and to coach and/or coordinate Campus Coaches (CCs) to build and execute strategic district and campus level plans for Instructional Leadership practices and High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) planning and implementation. The LIFT District Coach consistently provides direct, comprehensive, ongoing support to superintendents, assistant superintendents, and other district leadership

 

Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, and Certificates):

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university required
  • Valid Texas Teaching certificate required
  • Valid Texas Principal certification required
  • Prior experience planning and implementing HQIM and supporting district and campus leaders to implement HQIM. Aligned prior experience will be considered for this role.  
     

Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Education, and Certificates):

  • An advanced degree in education leadership preferred
  • At least three-years of experience as a principal, principal manager, TIL Lead, Strong Foundations Lead, senior experience consulting and/or capacity building in districts preferred. Aligned prior experience will be considered for this role. 

     

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Coaching, modeling, and providing feedback on performance, with an emphasis on identifying challenges and problem-solving
  • Ability to lead professional development design and delivery
  • Experience creating highly engaging experiences for adult learners
  • Ability to use data collection and analysis in a way that leads to better understanding of challenges and provides solutions to those challenges
  • Willingness to set clear expectations and hold others accountable for performance
  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with staff, clients, and external partners in a results-driven environment
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex learning to others
  • Experience implementing Research Based Instructional Strategies

  • Working knowledge of successful instructional coaching/feedback models
  • Strategic thinker with problem-solving approach to challenging situations
  • Experience working with campus and district leadership to achieve ambitious goals
  • Experience serving as the main support for a team of colleagues, providing training, mentorship, and growth opportunities
     

Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
  • Work with LIFT Lead to develop systems and processes to guide the work of ESC LIFT Campus Coaches
  • Implementation check-ins with Campus Coaches weekly, with coaching sessions happening as needed, at least monthly
  • Visit to districts receiving program support at least twice monthly to meet with, participate in, and deliver professional development, learning walks, 1:1 coaching,  PLCs. These visits will also be used to calibrate on planning and implementation support from the grant team and should be coordinated with Campus Coaches and LIFT Leads
  • Participating and at times facilitating internal meetings with Campus Coaches and relevant stakeholders to ensure team alignment and ongoing professionaldevelopment
