This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers and designers, you will work as a Systems Engineer focused on Requirements and Verification for the lunar lander system. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of requirements definition and management, verification planning and execution for the lunar lander. You will be responsible for vehicle requirements and verification work products through the program lifecycle and position the vehicle for successful verification and flight. You will be expected to coordinate these activities across Systems Engineering, IPT teams, and other stakeholders. Your passion, expertise, and skills will impact the design and integration of the spacecraft and mission success.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform requirements definition, integration of technical design content, verification, and validation
- Contribute to requirements and verification data management, including traceability, change control, audits, and coordination with other teams
- Document and resolve technical issues and assess compliance of requirements
- Perform verification and validation, capturing verification evidence for requirements
- Support integrated vehicle test and analysis activities, including planning, execution, reporting, and review
- Collaborate across Lunar Systems Engineers to develop best practices and find opportunities for common processes across projects
Minimum Qualifications
- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field
- Systems Engineering experience performing activities such as requirements definition, traceability, interface definition, functional decomposition, integration, verification, and validation
- Detailed knowledge of space systems design and requirements
- Experience supporting various phases of the development lifecycle of a design system
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectively
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with lunar environment and space exploration systems
- Experience with requirements development and management tools such as JAMA
- Experience with systems engineering modeling tools such as Cameo
- Ability to automate verification processes and data
