Job Summary:
The Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks an exceptional and visionary academic pulmonologist to assume the role of Division Chief of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care. This is an opportunity for a full-time Professor or Associate Professor Physician Scientist. In this influential position, the Division Chief provides strategic and operational leadership, oversees the faculty and staff of the division, spearheads the expansion of our clinical, educational, and research programs, and guides the professional development of our esteemed faculty. This is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, thereby shaping the next generation of medical professionals.
The Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care (APCC) is comprised of 59 faculty (including 15 research faculty), and 40 APPs providing specialty clinical care at allergy, pulmonary and lung transplant clinic locations in Madison and UW Health Regional Services outeach clinics. The Division also provides inpatient care services at University Hospital, Meriter, Select Specialty Hospital, the William S Middleton Memorial VA Hospital and through the TeleICU to Hospitals throughout the state/region. Our service include Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, Lung Transplant Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Allergy/Immunology. The division is internationally recognized for its research programs in Asthma, ICU Data Science, Lung Injury and Repair, has a robust clinical trials portfolio across these areas, and holds a training grant for learners in Allergy/Immunology.

Responsibilities:
The Division Chief will provide strategic and operational leadership with responsibility over all aspects of the division's operations across all missions (clinical, teaching, research, and service). The position will assess needs, develop, implement and evaluate strategies to advance strategic priorities in all missions, as well as faculty career progression according to the UW Madison School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and UW-Madison Appointment and Promotion Criteria. The position will promote and support the advancement of a diverse faculty, on all tracks, and a welcoming, and inclusive environment for students, faculty and staff.
This position will provide strong leadership in administering all operations directly or through delegation. This position will work collaboratively with Department of Medicine central administration and division administrator, vice chairs and other leaders in the Department of Medicine, and leadership of UW School of Medicine and Public Health, UW Health and its partners, and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
The incumbent will be expected to provide clinical patient care, in the pulmonary/critical care setting. The successful candidate is expected to increase the research portfolio within the Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Division, preferably in one of the following areas: Asthma, Lung Injury and Repair, Critical Care. Any of these areas would complement research already performed in the department and would enhance the research portfolio of the division.
