Job summary

Zendesk is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Admin Experience team. We are a Platform team responsible for building and maintaining the framework, tools, and services which enable other Zendesk engineering teams to deliver features that allow administrators to configure, monitor, or manage their Zendesk instances.

The ideal candidate for this position is a well established technical leader with an extensive background in the delivery of reliable, scalable, and performant user experiences used by enterprise customers.

• Collaborating with multiple teams to define problems and outline solutions.

• Mitigating issues before they arise during the development, testing, or delivery phases.

• Architecting resilient, secure, efficient, and scalable solutions.

• Writing reusable code and libraries for future use when necessary.

• Delivering solutions that can be implemented and supported practically.

• Writing and maintaining technical documentation.

• Prioritizing high-value deliverables with a direct impact on our users, team, and company.

• Developing and implementing best practices to enhance team productivity.

• Providing accurate project estimates based on previous experiences.

• Contributing to discussions on application improvements, project initiatives, and feature designs.

• Mentoring, pairing, and training others to advance the collective knowledge of the team.

• Reviewing pull requests and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback.

• Acting as a leader and applying strategic forward thought.

• Participating in common Agile development ceremonies.

• Completing paid on-call rotations as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned.

Basic qualifications

• 8+ years of professional development experience in an enterprise environment.

• Strong understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals.

• Strong understanding of JavaScript frameworks (React, Redux).

• Strong understanding of JavaScript testing libraries (Cypress, Jest, React Testing Library).

• Strong understanding of REST APIs.

• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Previous experience independently leading and mentoring a team of software engineers.

• Previous experience working with cross-functional partners such as Design and Product.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience with GraphQL.

• Understanding of micro frontends and federation architectures.

• Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.

• Previous experience with Ruby on Rails.

• Previous experience with Zendesk.

The US annualized base salary range for this position is $158,000.00-$238,000.00. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives. While this range reflects the minimum and maximum value for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations, the offer for the successful candidate for this position will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other factors such as work location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only (or OTE for commissions based roles), and do not include bonus, benefits, or related incentives.
