Job Description:

Fairfield University’s Department of Biology invites applications for a Professor of the Practice in Biology to join the faculty cohort at the Fairfield University Bellarmine campus. The successful candidate will have a minimum of an advanced degree in Biology or a closely related field, be prepared to demonstrate excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching at the introductory levels, and be committed to advising students. The individual selected for this position should be experienced with serving a diverse student body, including underserved, minoritized, and first-generation college students. Teaching responsibilities include a general biology course- Biomedical Science and Society; Anatomy and Physiology lecture and labs. The teaching load is 3/3 on a semester schedule with additional student mentoring responsibilities.

Fairfield Bellarmine, is a two-year Associates degree program located at the new Bridgeport, CT campus that seeks to expand liberal arts education in an area currently underserved by higher education opportunities. The program offers small class sizes, individualized advising and student support services. The curriculum will include core classes in the humanities, which are foundational to Jesuit higher education, as well as majors in professional fields of engineering, health studies, business, and liberal arts. Students who graduate from this program will matriculate into four-year degree programs at Fairfield or elsewhere, or enter directly into the professions. Professors of the Practice have teaching, advising, and service commitments, and they are eligible for professional development funds. Faculty will be members of the Biology department within Fairfield University’s College of Arts & Sciences, and will be assigned primarily teaching and advising responsibilities at Fairfield Bellarmine.
