About the role
As a Line Lead, you will be responsible for realizing the objectives within your area. In addition, be able to implement improvements to processes and systems.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Works with the maintenance planner and process/quality leader to deliver the business objectives.
- Coaches and develops team leaders to deliver expected business results.
- Serves as shift communication point of contact for all outside resources (utilities, security, vendors, etc.).
- Interfaces with contractor as single point of contact (SPOC) for the line(s).
- Owns pay administration and attendance management for the line(s).
- Manages incident tracking and absence reporting.
- Manages call in/emergency vacation documentation.
- Ensures new members are included in all team documentation (training plans and skill profile, Safety & Quality systems, etc.)
- Drives operational excellence through execution of DDS, CIL, Defect Handling, CL, Breakdown Elimination, Planning & Scheduling, AM/PM
Ongoing Responsibilities:
Safety
- Owns ensuring teams understand how to set Safety trigger and put actions in place to mitigate when necessary
- Owns Safety near miss/ 1st aid / incident investigations and resolution as well as daily action plan for respective line(s)
Quality
- Owns ensuring teams understand how to set Quality trigger and put actions in place to mitigate when necessary
- Owns quality incident / customer complaint resolution as well as daily action plan for respective line(s).
Reliability
- Manage systemic issues with PR and leads gap analysis and action plan (Hoshin) via weekly PDCA work process.
- Owns overall team plan (integrating staffing, training, leadership role changes, etc.).
Process Control
- Leads Work Process Improvement initiatives.
- Ensures centerlines and CILs are adhered to and communicates changes to personnel.
- Ensures technicians are following operating standards as appropriate.
Delivery
- Responsible for coaching technicians to deliver desired results.
- Holds 1:1s/ performance evaluations across the line(s).
- Holds team members accountable to standards.
Develop AM capability in yourself and the teams
- Ensures timely and accurate CIL execution across the teams.
- Provide necessary coaching to integrate AM tools into daily use.
- Participates in AM pillar rollouts and other work.
Deliverables
- Coaching and development of team leaders
- DWS progression and execution for lines (includes CILs)
- Daily Direction Setting
- PR equal to or greater than 70% (or glidepath to achieve).
- Understand and manage labor variance for the line(s).
- Must be able to communicate to leadership, maintenance and co-workers for safety, quality and production concerns.
- Must be able to use required inspection gauges and computer.
- Must be able to read and write as well as have a basic knowledge of mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) in order to complete required reports.
- Must possess the analytical ability to understand safety hazards.
- Must be able to manually lift with both hands up to 50lbs. from floor level to waist level or vice-versa at least 3 times per shift.
- Must be able to tolerate heights and extreme temperatures if working outside.
- Must possess the physical stamina to walk, stand, stoop or bend up to 100% of shift.
- Must be present on the production floor most of their workday.
