Residential Maintenance Technician(Scattered Site)

Tired Of Where You Are At? Join A Growing Team!
We are hiring a Residential Maintenance Technician!
We have been managing rental property in Chicagoland since 2003. Today we handle more than 1,500 units for over 500 investors across more than 100 villages, and we are still adding doors. That means steady work year round, a full schedule every week, and a company that has been doing this for over 20 years and is not slowing down.
As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be completing 4–5 work orders per day, starting from your home and finishing back at your home at the end of the day. You'll troubleshoot and repair multi-trade areas like plumbing, tile work, painting, electrical, carpentry, HVAC filters, appliance issues, and more across scattered‑site residential properties.
Schedule:
- Standard hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM
- Occasional emergency calls on nights / weekends (paid OT)
Pay and Benefits:
- Hourly Pay: $28.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications, paid weekly
- Performance Bonus: Earn up to an additional 7% every month based on how you perform
- Fuel Support: Up to $150 each week toward gas since you run your route in your own vehicle
- Paid Reading Program: We fund your books and pay you up to $500 a year for finishing them
- Bring A Good Tech, Get Paid: $1,000 when someone you refer gets hired
- Vacation: 10 PTO days accrued each year
- Birthday Off, Paid: Pick a paid day off during your birthday month
- Holidays: 7 paid company holidays every year
A Day In The Role:
You start the day with your route in your phone and your vehicle already stocked from the night before. Most days you are running work orders across several villages, so the properties change and so does the work. One stop is a no heat call, the next is a leaking supply line, the next is a door that will not latch and a GFI that keeps tripping. You diagnose it, you fix it, and you close it out before you drive to the next one.
The part that matters most is what happens when a job goes sideways. Nobody expects every work order to be easy and clean. What we expect is a call to dispatch before you leave the site, every time, so the resident and the Property Manager hear it from us instead of finding out three days later.
What You'll Need:
- 5+ years in residential maintenance, with formal training through an apprenticeship or vocational program
- Real working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, and general repair, not just one lane
- The ability to diagnose the actual cause and complete the repair correctly on the first visit
- Enough familiarity with residential code to walk a property with a municipal inspector and know what you are looking at
- Expert command of hand, power, and specialty tools, and you already own your own basic set
- Valid Illinois driver's license, clean driving record, your own insured working vehicle, and an active I PASS
- Comfort working off a smartphone and tablet, since work orders, photos, and time cards are all digital and there is no paper
- The physical ability to lift 30+ pounds, climb stairs and ladders, work in crawl spaces, and stay on your feet all day in Chicago weather
- High school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to pass a pre employment background screening
What helps:
- 8+ years in the trade
- Scattered site rental property repair experience, which is a different job than running one complex
- EPA, OSHA 10 or 30, general contractor, or handyman license, and we will help you get what you are missing
- Experience taking point on a job and showing a newer tech how it gets done
Why People Stay
Techs do not leave here because the work dried up or the company got sold. We have been at this since 2003, we are still adding doors, and the people who do good work keep getting more of it. If
