Account Executive
FreeWillAbout the role
FreeWill is an award-winning, social-good startup that has partnered with 2,400+ nonprofits who support our mission while generating $13B in gift commitments for nonprofits since we were founded in 2017. We’ve been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, Oprah’s magazine, and our co-CEOs have even been named to Town & Country’s “Top 50 Philanthropists” list.
All of this is because we’ve figured out how to make some powerful (but complicated!) ways to donate much easier and more accessible. Our products make things easier for the donors who want to change the world and for nonprofits doing heroic work around the planet.
In the last 8 years, we’ve grown from 5 people to 200+ (all smart, tenacious, and kind), and continue to grow. We’d love to have you be a part of this adventure. We were named a "Most Loved Workplace" by both Newsweek and Best Practice Institute and in 2025, we were named as one of Forbes' Best Startup Employers and the 2025 Most Loved Workplaces® for Diversity; you can also check us out on Glassdoor! Full-time • Excellent Benefits • Work from Anywhere in the US (except AL, CO, or LA)
FreeWill is seeking an Account Executive to be the driving force behind our new Grant Assistant product, which helps nonprofits create grant proposals efficiently, leading to better fundraising outcomes. This role will focus exclusively on selling Grant Assistant predominantly to US nonprofits as part of a newly formed, dedicated sales team. This AE will play a critical role in establishing the product in the market and building strong relationships with early adopters. Because this is a new product in a new sales motion, this AE will also help build a playbook for this sales motion.
FreeWill has set compensation and a non-negotiation policy for fairness reasons (we don't think that an individual's pay should be determined by how comfortable they are negotiating). As a result, we like to be transparent and up front about the compensation. The offer for this role will be a base salary of $80,000 and potential commission of $80,000 for a total OTE of $160,000.

The Account Executive on the Grant Assistant team will be responsible for:
- New Business Development: Prospecting and booking meetings with nonprofits to demonstrate the value of Grant Assistant, especially targeting organizations with robust grant-writing operations.

- Collaborative Selling: Working closely with sales engineer as well as marketing and enablement teams to refine messaging, sales motions, and demo strategies as we go-to-market with Grant Assistant.
- Strategic Growth: Contributing to the development of training materials and best practices for future hires, and actively sharing insights about successful approaches to iterate on the sales process.
- Target Achievement: Managing a sales pipeline, meeting revenue targets, and closing new accounts within a 30-45 day sales cycle.
- Product Expertise: Becoming an expert in the Grant Assistant product and broader nonprofit grant-writing landscape, staying current with market trends, and providing feedback to the product development and marketing teams.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating with a small cross-function
