Overview

 

Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a Electromechanical (Mechatronics) PRODiG+ Community College Faculty FT Tenure Track.

 

The Engineering Science and Technology Department has a full-time tenure track faculty position open.  Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of Electrical and Electromechanical (Mechatronics) courses and laboratories in content areas such as circuit design and analysis, digital electronics, microprocessor, programmable logic controllers, robotics (FANUC and UR), industrial automation, motion and motor control, project management, and other typical electromechanical technical areas. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, participation on committees, and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes. The role is part of the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth Plus Community College (PRODiG+ CC) program; an initiative supported by SUNY system aiming to: (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse community college faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion by hiring qualified candidates directly into tenure-track positions to support the community colleges' efforts to build an educated workforce in the state; and (2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidate. Candidates hired into a PRODiG+ CC role will receive additional faculty mentorship and professional development funds to support their professional growth.

  • ELT 261 Electronics 2 (classes and labs)
  • ELT 171 Digital Electronics (classes and labs)
  • ELT-215 Programmable Logic Controllers
  • ELT 271 Introduction to Microprocessors (classes and labs)
  • ELM 105 Introduction to Mechanisms
  • ELM 106 Introduction to Industrial Tools
  • ELM 109 Introduction to Programming
  • ELM-111 Introduction to Industrial Automation
  • ELM-112 Motors & Motion
  • ELM-231 Industrial Robotics I
  • ELM-232 Industrial Robotics II
  • Other technical courses as necessary

Knowledge of electromechanical applications in demand by local industry is also valued, including, but not limited to: hydraulics & pneumatics, robotics, soldering & electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, and industrial control systems.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be responsive to student questions and available for student support.
  • Use appropriate technology to enhance learning.
  • Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives.
  • Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
  • Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion.
  • Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
  • Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester.
  • Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

USD $61,466.00/Yr.

Max Compensation

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship

 

Appointment at the Rank of Instructor:

  • Associate degree in the subject areas of Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or closely-allied field from college, university or foreign equivalency.
  • Industry-recognized professional license or certification.
  • Minimum of five years of full-time related industry experience.

Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from college, university or foreign equivalency with 3 years of full-time employment in Engineering or a closely allied field experience, or a Master's degree, or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.
  • Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity
