Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Quality Assurance Manager with extensive knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulation and how it relates to Disability Determinations for the Social Security Administration. The individual needs to be ambitious, a critical thinker, well organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to serve as the Supervisor of the Quality Assurance Unit within the Bureau of Disability Determination Services. The supervisor will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Quality Assurance Unit. The Bureau of Disability Determination Services is responsible for disability determinations for Illinois Citizens and is 100% federally funded.
Essential Functions
- Serves as Quality Assurance Manager for the Bureau of Disability Determination Services.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Directs, reviews, and participates in training of disability claims analysts engaged in analytical review of medical and technical aspects of case processing under provisions of the Social Security Act.
- Develops and prepares analytical reports for administration and makes recommendations for corrective action.
- Reviews and evaluates sample review returns from Federal Quality Review (QR) to determine potential rebuttals, policy changes, trends or error trends in terms of accuracy of the determinations, underdevelopment of claim evidence, vocational analyses, established onset dates, and re-exam dates.
- Recommends, plans, and formulates operating policy within the DDS.
- Confers with various Social Security Administration components as well as other DDSs regarding technical and medical issues providing feedback to administration for coordination of any procedural or policy changes.
- Serves as the liaison between Regional Office, Office of Quality Review and the Bureau of Disability Determination Services regarding medical and technical issues.
