Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Communication Specialist for Business, Innovation and Research Communications - Boca Raton, FL.
As a communications specialist focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship and research, you will report on emerging entrepreneurs, venture company activity and innovative research development shaping the future. Publications will be on numerous platforms which may include Research Daily website featuring research-related topics happening across the university, Florida Atlantic magazine, Masterminds, Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute magazine, Momentum Report, Division of Research annual report, Science in Seconds, video series, social media posts, digital newsletters, website content and advertising copy.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Story development and reporting: Research, pitch and write compelling stories on innovations in tech, entrepreneurship, research and inventions.
Multimedia production: Assist the team in content creation for video, audio and photo captions to accompany written pieces. This includes editing elements for publication.
Interview and network: Conduct interviews with entrepreneurs, researchers and thought leaders, building a robust network of sources in the research, innovation, inventor and startup ecosystem.
Content strategy: Collaborate with the research communication team on editorial and social media to amplify stories across platforms, driving audience engagement through innovative content formats.
Trendspotting and analysis: Stay ahead of emerging trends in innovation and research and provide insightful analysis that speaks to the broader impact on industries and society.
Data-driven reporting: Use analytics and audience insights to tailor stories that meet the interests and needs of the readership.
Event coverage: Attend key events to report on research, emerging technologies and entrepreneurial trends.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
