Location: Kalkaska, MIPosition Summary:
As the Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions and supporting the CFO in strategic financial planning. This is a salaried, full-time position where you will handle critical tasks such as payroll, month-end closing, journal entries, account reconciliation, tax filings, and assisting with budgeting. Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and process payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage month-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Perform account reconciliations, ensuring all financial records are accurate and aligned with the general ledger.
  • Handle payroll tax filings and property tax filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Assist the CFO in making adjusting entries and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in the budgeting process by providing accurate financial data and supporting ad-hoc report creation.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all accounting records and provide support during audits.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure financial goals and timelines are met.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in payroll, month-end processes, account reconciliation, and tax filings.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
  • 5-7 years experience in accounting, finance, or similar field
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or other accounting software especially Sage 300 CRE
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic workplace
