About the role

I. SUMMARY

Responsible for implementing, coordinating, and improving quality systems by providing

technical support, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations, and maintaining

customer satisfaction.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience

· Five years experience in quality, preferably in automotive manufacturing

· Excellent verbal and written/interpersonal communication skills

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills

· Knowledge of OE quality systems

· Strong statistical knowledge

· ASQ certified quality assurance engineer or manager preferred

 

 

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the facility effort to eliminate product and process defect causes by utilizing

team-oriented problem solving methodology and recommending changes or solutions

to problems.

 

Direct the maintenance of TS 16949 and ISO-14001 certifications through system

and process audits.

 

Manage the Quality Assurance Department, including the Metrology/Metallurgical Labs

to provide the necessary support to manufacturing.

 

Supervise the Quality Technicians and direct their training to develop their teamwork and problem

solving skills.

 

Provide training in quality systems and related areas such as Problem Solving (8D).

 

Drive TMS/TPS implementation at all levels of the organization.

 

Will be required to participate and become a certified Black Belt.

 

Develop Systems that will drive PPM to zero.

 

Be responsible for developing and driving a zero PPM plan.

 

Maintain tracking and reporting systems for plant performance and customer satisfaction.

 

Support compliance with customer requirements including customer visits and acting as liaison

with vendors to ensure their products meet the needs of Tenneco Automotive to satisfy their

customers.       

 

Participate in plant and corporate engineering activities to support the new product and

process launches.

 

Participate with sister facilities to establish and implement QA best practices.

 

Act as a technical resource to the manufacturing facility

IV.  JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

A.  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

4 year technical degree

10 years manufacturing experience

 

B.  SKILL/CHARACTERISTICS

Above average communication skills (both oral and written)

 

Understanding of Quality System requirements:  Automotive, ISO9000, TS16949

 

Evaluation and measurement techniques

 

Auditing techniques

 

Project planning

 

Presentation and training skills

 

Financial awareness and understanding of financial impacts of actions and decisions

 

Knowledge of quality and engineering tools:  DOE, QFD, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Statistical methods
