Brief Job Description (essential functions of the position):

 

Performs bench shop work in the assembly of Street Lighting Luminaires and panel board assemblies. Operates Street Lighting vehicles as required and assists in the repair of street lights in the field. Assists in the permanent restoration (cementing) of the sidewalk around street light poles and paint poles when required.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs shop work in the assembly of luminaires.
  • Field work with crews in the repair of street lights will be counted towards experience to advance to the next level of position.
  • Employees in this position must wear safety equipment provided by the City, including work boots (no sneakers), vests, respirators, earplugs, safety helmets, or other necessary safety equipment. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in progressive discipline up to and including termination.
  • Employees in this position are subject to a dress code that prohibits tank tops and shorts and requires that they wear long pants. Failure to comply with this dress code will result in progressive discipline, up to and including termination.
  • Required to perform other job-related duties as necessary.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required to work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

 

Must be available to work any shift.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

The candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:

  • A high school diploma, trade school diploma, or GED is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within six (6) months of hire.
  • Candidates must obtain their 2A/1C Hoisting License within six (6) months, or they will be terminated from the position.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
