Orthodontic Assistant

Job Title: Orthodontic Registered Dental Assistant

Location: Wylie, TX

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Orthodontist/Office Manager

**Must be able to start at 6:30 AM some days and 7:30 AM other days.

 

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled, dedicated and loyal Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with Orthodontic chairside experience to join our dynamic Orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthodontic procedures, exceptional patient care skills, and the ability to assist the orthodontist during treatments. This role is essential in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care in a comfortable and efficient manner.

(Minimum of 1 year of Orthodontic experience)

 Is willing to work Monday through Friday.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the orthodontist during various orthodontic procedures, including but not limited to, passing brackets, fitting and adjusting appliances. Delivering RPE, Herbst. Making In House clear "Essix" retainers, deliver Hawley retainers. Assist bonding retainers.

 

  • Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures by ensuring they are comfortable, informed, and ready for treatment.

 

  • Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use, maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols.

 

  • Take accurate dental impressions, pour and trim models as needed.

 

  • Scanning for any appliances or Aligners as needed on our iTero scanner.

 

  • Panoramic, Cephalometric  X-rays and Intraoral photos as directed by the orthodontist.

 

  • Provide patients with clear instructions and education regarding their orthodontic treatment, appliance care, and post-treatment guidelines.

 

  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including treatment notes, appliance logs, and X-ray images.

 

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of orthodontic supplies, ensuring that the practice is always stocked with necessary materials.

 

  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments, managing the flow of the clinic, and ensuring timely patient care.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) program.
  • Certification: Current RDA certification
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience as an RDA with specific experience in orthodontics and chairside assistance.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in orthodontic procedures and chair-side assisting.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and bend for extended periods; manual dexterity and precision in hand movements.
