Wärtsilä’s Global Field Services team is at the core of Wӓrtsilӓ’s smart marine strategy and fulfilling the company purpose by providing state of the art technology to marine customers, who need to have their vessels operated beyond compliance. We are currently looking for a (Senior) Superintendent Electrical, who will strengthen our team by providing services and commissioning activities for our customers all over the world.

 

The preferred location for this position is in Vaasa, Finland, but other Wärtsilä locations in Finland can also be considered. The position involves about 150 days of global travel per year. Candidates of various seniority levels are encouraged to apply.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As part of the Global Field Services team, your daily work would revolve around performing and leading commissioning, overhauls, troubleshooting, on-site repairs, audits, measurement, and analysis, as well as upgrades and retrofits, on marine and land-based installations with the newest Wärtsilä engines and equipment. Safety, environment, and wellbeing are our foundation, and we never compromise them.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

• Pre-commissioning and commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment with the latest automation and electrical technologies for marine and power plant installations.
• Troubleshooting by identifying failures, adjusting and testing of installations, according to instructions and expected performance requirements.
• Performing installation audits at various land and sea-based installations.
• Preparing service reports and travel expenses on time in accordance with expected Wärtsilä quality.
• Participating in and contributing to improvement of new products when performing warranty activities.
• Actively promoting Wärtsilä products and services.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction through performance and positive interactions with customers.

 

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of low/medium/high voltage electrical systems.
• Experience with engine installation and troubleshooting (Diesel, Dual Fuel, Gas).

• Positive and collaborative mindset.
• Passion to learn new things and keep up with the latest innovations.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
• Willingness to travel globally.

 

 

The below will be considered an advantage:

 

• Knowledge of protection relays.
• Knowledge for generators and AVR.
• Electrical qualification S1 or S2.  
• Electrical safety SFS6002.
