Trident Systems is seeking a talented and experienced engineering leader to fill a key leadership role in our Space Electronics Systems (SES) division. Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, the Deputy Engineering Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing various engineering projects, providing technical leadership, and driving innovation within the organization. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, exceptional technical expertise, a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced engineering environment, and be able to provide technical leadership to a portfolio of programs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee the execution of engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and engineering quality standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures programs are following best engineering process and practices in accordance with industry standards and internal requirements.
  • Drive the development and implementation of new engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
  • Support proposal efforts by creating Basis-of-Estimates for the engineering work and/or author portions of technical volumes.
  • Coordinates engineering resource planning across programs with the engineering discipline leads.
  • Manages a small team of Product Engineers who are technical owners of core products / modules that are used on multiple programs within the SES division.
  • Facilitates the Engineering Corrective Action Board (CAB) looking at quality metrics monitoring engineering performance.
  • Coordinates the Engineering Review Board (ERB) to review technical requirement and design architecture changes on programs.
  • Provides support to the SES Technical Director for coordination of monthly Internal Research and Development reviews.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: Bachelors’ degree in related field, masters preferred.

Years of Experience: 12+ years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

Required: 

  • Proven communication/interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and ability to be a strong team leader. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering development efforts on rapid timelines.
  • Experience working on proposals including creating engineering estimates for the development schedule and cost.
  • A strong engineering process background and ability to lead design review preparation and act as an independent assessor on projects.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality processes such as non-conformance processing and configuration data management
  • Strong Microsoft office skills include Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute plans to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

 

Desired: 

Experience developing high-reliability electronic systems for space environments.
